Winter Photos wanted
We're looking for high quality digital photos showing Irish winter landscapes or Mountain Rescue teams in Irish winter conditions (preferably with snow or heavy frost) for a possible line of IMRA Christmas Cards. These Christmas Cards are intended to be part of our Fundraising Merchandise and our overall National Fundraising Strategy.
Man stretchered to safety in Glendalough
A male hill-walker, in his 60's and from Westmeath, was out walking with his two daughters in Glendalough earlier today, when he required the services of local mountain rescue teams. The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team responded to the hill-walker who had suffered a lower leg injury on the Spink Mountain.
The call came at 14:05 (Saturday 20-DEC-08) after the man's daughters and some passer-bys had been assisting home down to safety, but fearing causing further damage to this injury, called Mountain Rescue to help them.
Two lost walkers found in Wicklow Mountains
The Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and the Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue Team were called out at approximately 16:30 on Sunday 14th December at the request of the Gardai.
Rescue in the Backstairs Mountains
A 61 year old walker was air lifter to hospital by a Coast Guard helicopter from the Backstairs mountains in Carlow yesterday evening. The walker had sustained a lower leg injury while out walking with three friends. The alarm was raised at around 4pm yesterday evening when one of the men contacted the Mountain Rescue team through the 999/112 emergency number.
MR member wins Irish selection for Land Rover G4 Challenge
Fantastic news from the UK where Terry Brophy from Kilkenny and Malcolm Daly from Tipperary were taking part in the Land Rover G4 Challenge (Irish Selection) along with 40 others from Ireland.
