At approximately 3pm today, Saturday 27th February, a 72 year old lone hillwalker suffered chest pains.  The gentleman, near the summit of Lugnaquillia (924m), used his mobile phone to call the emergency services

The Glen of Imaal and Dublin/Wicklow Mountain Rescue Teams arrived quickly on the scene and sent personnel from both Glenmalure and Glen of Imaal to attend the lone hillwalker. Despite the wintry conditions, the Irish Coastguard helicopter successfully airlifted the man to Tallaght hospital.
