Busy week for Mayo MRT
At 2.15 pm, on Sunday, 05-JUN-10, the Mayo team received a call from the Gardai concerning a 15 year old girl who was reported injured on the south side of the cone of Croagh Patrick. The team was assembled and sent up first responders. The first responders reported that the girl had a badly broken bone in her lower leg. The casualty was stretchered off the mountain to the base and taken by ambulance to Castlebar General Hospital. The girl was a member of a party of 42 climbers and was from Celbridge, Co. Kildare.
At 3.15pm, on Saturday, 12-JUN-10, the team received a call from Gardai concerning an 11 year old boy who was badly injured on the top of Croagh Patrick. The Coast Guard helicopter was called as the casualty had head injuries. The team assisted the crew of the helicopter in hoisting the stretcher up into the helicopter. He was taken to Sligo General Hospital. At the time of the accident the boy was accompanied by his parents and two sisters who were believed to be from Chicago.
At 2.15 pm, on Sunday, 13-JUN-10, the Mayo team received a call from the Gardai concerning a 39-year old Mayo woman who had a serious fall on Croagh Patrick on the south side of the cone. As she had suspected head, rib and leg injuries the Coast Guard helicopter was called in. The team assisted the helicopter crew hoist her onto the helicopter. She was taken to Castlebar General Hospital.
