The Mayo Mountain Rescue Team was called at 15:45 by the Gardai to assist an injured person on the North side of Croagh Patrick. The Mayo MRT responded by sending up their first response team. After assessing the situation they requested that a stretcher party be sent up for the casualty.

The casualty was a woman in her late 50s and she had injured her lower leg. Mayo MRT stretchered her down to the Murrisk car park where they met the waiting Order of Malta ambulance. The ambulance brought the casualty for treatment to the Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
