Successful search by Mountain Rescue and Army for missing person in Glen of Imaal [25-JUL-11]
On Monday 25th July 2011 at 6.30pm, An Gardaí Síochána requested the assistance of the Mountain Rescue services in Co. Wicklow to find a missing local man. The Glen of Imaal Mountain Rescue Team and Dublin & Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team both attended and assisted the Gardaí and the Defence Forces in the search for the man in his 60's. Both the South Eastern Mountain Rescue Team and the Search & Rescue Dog Association were put on standby as well.
The missing man had last been seen ascending Lugnaquillia at 3pm on Sunday 24th July, and his family and friends were concerned for his safety.
We were very happy to then locate the uninjured man in the Military firing range at approx 9.15pm, and to bring him out to reunite him with his family. The operation was stood down at 10.00pm.
Many thanks to all the organisations who assisted and preparing to assist in this operation.
